Where to Buy in St. Croix
Two licensed shops are getting ready, and neither is selling yet. The Harmony Collective will be in Christiansted, and the other shop has not made its location public. St. Croix has room for seven shops and has filled two, so this is the island's list most likely to grow. The directory tracks each one from license to opening day.
If You're Here on a Cruise
Ships dock at the Ann E. Abramson Pier in Frederiksted, and the walk into town from the pier is short and flat. When the shops open, Frederiksted is the one closest to your ship.
Then leave it on the island. Every major cruise line bans cannabis in its guest terms, and ships sail under federal rules no matter what the territory allows. Getting caught at the pier can mean confiscation, missing the sailing, or worse.
If your day includes Christiansted, the drive across the island is about forty minutes each way. Plan the stop around the drive, not the other way around.
Where You Can Actually Use It
St. Croix sees far fewer visitors than St. Thomas, which means you stand out more here, not less. Cannabis is part of everyday life for plenty of Crucians and enforcement is light, but that is a local's margin, not a visitor's. Be discreet, be indoors, be courteous to the people around you, and don't be stupid.
Public consumption is illegal: the boardwalk, the beaches, the fort, your rental car. Consumption lounges are coming, the law makes room for them, and none have opened yet.
If you are in a hotel, ask before you assume. Most ban smoking indoors, cigarettes included. Edibles solve the smoke problem, and the effects come on slower than people expect, so give them time before you reach for more.
Getting Here, and Leaving
- Henry E. Rohlsen airport is federal ground. TSA works there, federal drug law applies inside it, and cannabis is still illegal under that law. Whatever you have stays on St. Croix.
- You can't bring your own, either. The same federal rule that stops it leaving stops it arriving, whatever your home state allows.
- The seaplane and the ferry to St. Thomas are a border. Each island is its own cannabis market. What you buy on St. Croix stays on St. Croix.
The Rest of the Rules
- What it will cost. Non-residents pay a $20 fee per purchase, plus 18% sales tax on the shelf price. Bring cash. Cannabis businesses can rarely get normal card processing.
- How much you can buy in a day. Visitors are capped at 14 grams of flower, 3 grams of concentrate, and 500 mg of edibles and other cannabis products per day.
- A medical card from home. You do not need one. Any adult 21 and older can buy. You can register an out-of-state card with the Office of Cannabis Regulation if you want, but there is no reason to bother.
- Driving. Don't. St. Croix is the biggest island in the territory and you will drive a lot of it, on the left, on unlit roads. Impaired driving is illegal here the same as anywhere else in the US.
